Jaquar vs Essco - What's the Difference, and Which Should You Buy?

Jaquar and Essco are both from the Jaquar Group. Jaquar is the premium range; Essco is the value range. Here's how they differ on price, finish options and warranty.

Updated 2026-07-11 · Padmavati Ceramics - Authorized Jaquar Dealer

Short answer

Jaquar and Essco are both brands of the Jaquar Group, made with the same manufacturing DNA and both backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty. Jaquar is the premium range - wider designs, heavier bodies and a dozen-plus finishes including black matt, graphite and PVD gold. Essco is the value range - chrome-only, simpler designs, and typically 30-60% cheaper for the equivalent fitting. If the budget allows, buy Jaquar for the bathrooms you live in daily; Essco is the honest pick for rentals, second bathrooms, utility areas and tight budgets.

In detail

One group, two brands

Essco is not a Jaquar competitor and not a knock-off - it is the Jaquar Group's own value brand, sold through the same authorized dealer network (including us). The practical differences are in design range, finish options and body engineering, not in whether the product is "genuine".

What that means at the counter: an Essco tap comes in a Jaquar Group box, carries a proper model code, and is serviced by the same group's spare-part ecosystem. Both brands we sell carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty - Jaquar products as "10 Years Jaquar Warranty" and Essco as "10 Years Essco Warranty". So the warranty argument, which used to favour Jaquar heavily, is now mostly neutral.

Price comparison, category by category

These are real price ranges from our current catalog (our selling prices, not MRP). The pattern is consistent: Essco starts slightly lower and tops out much lower, because it simply doesn't make the designer-end products.

CategoryJaquar rangeEssco rangeTypical saving with Essco
Basin taps & mixers₹1,610 - ₹19,170₹1,370 - ₹4,20030-50% at comparable spec
Basin area valves (angle/stop)₹520 - ₹4,710₹770 - ₹1,500Similar at entry level
WC area bib taps₹580 - ₹5,500₹960 - ₹2,31030-40% mid-range
Wall mixers & diverters₹850 - ₹71,510₹540 - ₹5,55040-50%
Kitchen faucets₹2,100 - ₹9,390₹1,550 - ₹3,35030-45%

A concrete example with table-mounted regular basin mixers, all chrome, all single-lever: Essco Aspire APR-CHR-101011NB at ₹3,000, Jaquar Opal Prime OPP-CHR-15011BPM at ₹4,900, Jaquar Kubix Prime KUP-CHR-35011BPM at ₹7,170. Same job, three budgets.

For bath areas: an Essco Delux 1-way wall mixer (DLX-CHR-520KN, ₹3,200) versus a Jaquar Continental Prime 1-way (COP-CHR-209NPM, ₹3,630) versus a Jaquar Kubix Prime 1-way (KUP-CHR-35149PM, ₹6,650). At the entry level the gap is small; it widens fast as you move up Jaquar's design ladder.

Finish options: the biggest real difference

This is where the two brands genuinely diverge.

If your bathroom design calls for black matt, gold or antique finishes - or anything beyond a straightforward chrome tap - Essco isn't in the running. Our finish guide covers how those Jaquar PVD finishes hold up.

Where each brand makes sense

Buy Jaquar when:

  • It's your master or main family bathroom - the fittings you touch twenty times a day.
  • You want any finish other than chrome, or a specific design language (see our Prime series comparison).
  • You need showers beyond the basics, thermostatic mixers, sensor faucets or designer spouts.
  • Resale presentation matters - "full Jaquar bathroom" is a line brokers actually use in Mumbai listings.

Buy Essco when:

  • It's a rental flat, staff bathroom, second/guest toilet or utility area.
  • The budget per bathroom is under roughly ₹15,000-₹20,000 for all fittings.
  • You want genuine Jaquar Group quality and the 10-year warranty without the designer premium.
  • You're replacing a single failed tap and just need a reliable chrome fitting.

Mixing brands is completely fine. A very common Mumbai renovation pattern we see: Jaquar in the master bathroom, Essco in the common bathroom and WC area. The chrome finishes sit next to each other without clashing.

Quality: honest expectations

Essco fittings are lighter in the hand than the equivalent Jaquar piece, and the design detailing is simpler - that's where the cost saving comes from. But the core engineering (ceramic internals, plating quality) is Jaquar Group standard, which is why the company backs Essco with the same 10-year warranty length. In our 20+ years of dealing, Essco complaint rates are low; what customers occasionally miss is the heft and finish depth of Jaquar, not reliability.
