Short answer

Jaquar's tankless water heater, the Insta Prime, costs ₹9,850 to ₹30,900 with us, at Jaquar's 2026 NRP. It comes in six ratings: 5.5, 7 and 9 kW on single-phase supply (₹9,850–₹12,800) and 12, 18 and 24 kW on three-phase 400 V supply (₹24,600–₹30,900). There is no tank, so hot water does not run out — but the water only gets as hot as the kilowatts allow at your shower's flow rate, and every model needs wiring sized for it. In Mumbai, where cold water is rarely below 25°C, a 9 kW unit can run one shower; in a cold north-Indian winter you need 18 kW or more.

24 kWINP-BLM-24KWThree-phase, 400 V₹30,900₹34,500

On Jaquar's spec sheet the three-phase models are 245 x 478 x 90 mm, work at 0.2–6 bar, deliver 30–55°C, and carry 3 years on the heating element and 1 year on other components.

How hot will the water be?

A tankless heater warms water as it passes. The temperature rise is simply the power divided by the flow, and it is worth doing the sum before you buy:

RatingRise at 6 L/minRise at 8 L/minRise at 10 L/min
5.5 kW13°C10°C8°C
9 kW21°C16°C13°C
12 kW29°C22°C17°C
18 kW43°C32°C26°C
24 kW57°C43°C34°C

These are the theoretical maximums (1 kW raises 1 litre a minute by about 14.3°C) before any heat loss in the pipes. A comfortable shower is around 40°C. With Mumbai mains at 25–28°C you need a 12–15°C rise, which a 9 kW unit gives at 8 litres a minute. In Delhi in January, with water near 10°C, you need a 30°C rise — 18 kW at 8 litres a minute.

The wiring, plainly

Current is power divided by voltage. On single phase at 230 V, the 5.5 kW draws about 24 A, the 7 kW about 30 A and the 9 kW about 39 A — each needs its own circuit with cable and breaker sized for it, not a socket. On three phase at 400 V the 12, 18 and 24 kW draw about 17, 26 and 35 A per phase. Have an electrician check your meter and load before ordering; this is the one decision that cannot be fixed after installation.

Tankless or a storage geyser?

A 25 litre storage geyser costs ₹9,350 to ₹19,700 and runs on an ordinary 2 kW circuit, but it eventually runs out. Insta Prime never runs out and has no standing loss — nothing is kept hot between uses — but it needs heavy wiring and enough power for your climate. For one Mumbai bathroom with a normal supply, a 25 litre storage geyser is still the simpler choice; tankless makes sense where showers run back to back or the space for a tank is not there.

Jaquar Insta Prime or Venus Quik

Venus's Quik tankless range is ₹6,819 to ₹36,289 with us. At 5.5 kW the Venus is cheaper (₹6,819 against ₹9,850); at 12 kW Jaquar is cheaper (₹24,600 against ₹24,739); at 18 and 24 kW Jaquar is cheaper by ₹5,599 and ₹5,389. See Jaquar vs Venus geyser.

FAQ

What is the price of the Jaquar Insta Prime tankless water heater?

₹9,850 to ₹30,900 at Jaquar's 2026 NRP: 5.5 kW ₹9,850, 7 kW ₹12,150 and 9 kW ₹12,800 on single-phase supply; 12 kW ₹24,600, 18 kW ₹28,100 and 24 kW ₹30,900 on three-phase 400 V supply.

Does a tankless water heater run out of hot water?

No - there is no tank to empty. What limits it is temperature: the water only gets as hot as the kilowatts allow at your flow rate, so a bigger rating is needed for a shower in a cold winter than in Mumbai.

Which Insta Prime models need three-phase power?

The 12, 18 and 24 kW models (INP-BLM-12KW, 18KW and 24KW) run on 400 V three-phase supply. The 5.5, 7 and 9 kW models run on single-phase, still on a dedicated circuit sized for the load.
