Digital & Touch Showers in India: How They Work, What They Cost

A digital touch shower switches outlets with electronic valves and a touch panel instead of a diverter knob. The one we sell, Jaquar Qloud, costs ₹49,500 to ₹1,16,900 complete, runs on a 6 V adapter with battery backup, and needs 1 bar.

Short answer

A digital or touch shower replaces the diverter knob with electronic valves and a touch panel: you press a button for each outlet instead of turning a handle. In India the one we sell is Jaquar Qloud, a thermostatic touch shower that costs ₹49,500 to ₹1,16,900 complete with us (2 to 4 outlets, nine finishes). It runs on a small mains adapter at 6 V with a battery backup, needs at least 1 bar of water pressure, and is fitted before tiling. If what you actually want is a steady temperature, a conventional thermostatic diverter does that from about ₹15,400 without any electronics.

In detail

Four ways to control a shower

TypeYou control it byTemperatureNeeds powerJaquar price
Single-lever mixerOne leverDriftsNoLowest
DiverterA handle, one outlet at a timeDriftsNoLow
Thermostatic diverterA handle, one outlet at a timeSteadyNo₹15,420 – ₹20,410
Touch showerA touch per outletSteadyYes₹49,500 – ₹79,800

"Drifts" means the temperature moves when the cold or hot pressure changes — when someone flushes a toilet, say. Prices are complete systems in chrome: Jaquar's Aquamax 2- and 3-way thermostatic diverters, and Jaquar Qloud with 2 to 4 outlets, which can also run two outlets at once.

The jump from the third row to the fourth is not about temperature — both are thermostatic. It is about control and design.

What "digital" means in a shower

Behind a touch shower's panel sit solenoid valves: electrically operated valves that open and close when you touch a button. In Jaquar Qloud they sit in a control unit linked to the touch panel by cable, while a thermostatic body in the wall mixes hot and cold to the temperature you set. That arrangement gives a touch shower its three practical differences:

  1. One button per outlet, so there is no handle to turn through positions.
  2. More than one outlet at once — Qloud runs up to two together.
  3. It needs power — a mains adapter, a cable route and, in Qloud's case, a battery backup for power cuts.

Is a touch shower right for an Indian bathroom?

Yes, when:

  • It is a new build or a full renovation, so the body, pipes and cable routes can go in before tiling.
  • The supply is pump-fed or from a high-rise system with at least 1 bar.
  • You want rain and hand shower running together, or four outlets on one control.

Think again when:

  • The bathroom is gravity-fed from a tank just above it — pressure may be too low.
  • The bathroom is already tiled and you do not want to break the wall.
  • The goal is only a stable temperature: a thermostatic diverter does that for about a third of the price.

Questions people ask

Does it work in a power cut? Qloud does — Jaquar fits a battery backup.

Is it safe with water and electricity together? The panel runs at 6 V DC from an adapter; Jaquar rates the touch panel and battery box IP65 against water. The mains socket for the adapter should sit in a dry spot your electrician approves.

Can I fit it to an existing shower? Only by opening the wall, because the thermostatic body sits inside it.
