Jaquar Qloud Installation: Wall, Pipes, Power & Pressure

Jaquar Qloud installs before tiling in a normal 4-inch wall: the QLD-CHR-309661C body first, then the kit. It needs 20 mm hot and cold supplies, 15 mm outlet pipes, a power socket within the 3 m cable, and 1 to 5 bar pressure.

Short answer

A Jaquar Qloud goes in before the tiles: the in-wall thermostatic body (QLD-CHR-309661C) and its plastic box are fixed and piped first, then the touch kit is fitted once the wall is finished. Jaquar says it installs in a wall of normal 4-inch thickness. It needs 20 mm (¾-inch) hot and cold supply lines, 15 mm (½-inch) pipes to each outlet, a power socket whose adapter cable reaches the touch panel (the kit's cable is 3 metres), and 1 to 5 bar of working water pressure. Leave 30–40 mm between the mixer and the touch-panel box. Get those right at the rough-in stage and the rest is fitting plates.

In detail

What goes in the wall, and what goes on it

StageWhatWhen
Rough-inIn-wall body and touch-control box, QLD-CHR-309661C (₹12,300)Before tiling
Rough-inSupplies, outlet pipes, cable conduitBefore tiling
FinishQloud kit: plates, control unit, cables, battery box, hosesAfter tiling
FinishRain shower, hand shower, body jetsAfter tiling

Every Qloud kit — 2, 3 or 4 outlets, any finish — fits the same body, so the body can go in before you have chosen the finish.

The wall

Jaquar says Qloud installs in a wall of normal thickness, 4 inches. Its own worked example is a 4-inch brick wall with 1 inch of plaster at the periphery, half an inch of plaster on the front and 8 mm tiles. Jaquar also says the mixer and the touch-panel box can be arranged horizontally or vertically, with 30–40 mm between them.

Pipes

LineSize (Jaquar)
Hot and cold supply to the body20 mm (¾-inch BSP)
Inlet to the solenoid valve unit20 mm (¾-inch BSP)
Each outlet: rain, hand, body, mist15 mm (½-inch BSP)

Each kit includes 800 mm braided hoses — one 20 mm, plus one 15 mm per outlet — and a filter. Jaquar's data sheet gives a water inlet temperature of 5°C to 65°C.

If you think you may add body jets later, run those outlet pipes now. Adding a pipe after tiling means breaking tiles.

Water pressure

Jaquar's Qloud page gives a working range of 1 to 5 bar of dynamic pressure; the kit data sheet gives 1 to 6 bar with 3 bar recommended. A pump-fed flat usually has that. A bathroom fed by gravity from a tank one floor up may not reach 1 bar; measure it, or fit a pressure pump, before you commit. Our low water pressure guide explains how to check.

Power

Plan the socket and both cable routes at rough-in, with conduit, so nothing is chased into a finished wall. Put the socket in a dry spot your electrician is happy with: it carries mains power, even though the panel itself runs at 6 V.

A sensible order of work

  1. Decide the outlets (2, 3 or 4) and where each shower sits.
  2. Fix the in-wall body and touch-control box, with 30–40 mm between them.
  3. Run the 20 mm supplies, the 15 mm outlet pipes and cable conduit.
  4. Pressure-test the pipework before plastering — a leak found now costs nothing.
  5. Plaster and tile.
  6. Fit the kit: control unit, cables, battery box, plates, then the showers.
  7. Test each outlet, and two at a time.

Using it day to day

Two outlets can run at once. To change outlet, stop the running one and touch the next. Jaquar says the system returns to its primary mode after 20 minutes unused, and recommends turning the knob to off while cleaning the panel so it is not set off by accident.

FAQ

How is the Jaquar Qloud installed?

In two stages. Before tiling, the in-wall thermostatic body QLD-CHR-309661C and its touch-control box are fixed, with 20 mm hot and cold supplies, 15 mm pipes to each outlet and conduit for the cables. After tiling, the exposed kit - mixer plate, touch panel, control unit, cables and battery box - and the showers are fitted.

What wall thickness does Jaquar Qloud need?

Jaquar says it installs in a wall of normal 4-inch thickness, with 30-40 mm left between the mixer and the touch-panel box.

Does Jaquar Qloud need electricity?

Yes. A 100-240 V AC adapter powers the touch panel at 6 V DC, 3.6 W maximum, on a 3 metre cable, with a battery box as backup for power cuts. Plan the socket and cable route before plastering.
