Short answer
A Jaquar diverter costs ₹850 to ₹12,990 depending on how many outlets it feeds and which series you choose. The quick numbers from our current stock of 409 Jaquar diverters: 1-way ₹850 – ₹10,290 (median ₹5,260), 2-way ₹1,100 – ₹10,670 (median ₹4,080), 3-way ₹3,390 – ₹12,990 (median ₹6,590), 4-way ₹3,660 – ₹7,660. The "way" count is simply how many outlets the diverter can send water to — a 3-way feeds, for example, an overhead shower, a hand shower and a bath spout. Two things people get wrong: a concealed diverter also needs a valve body buried in the wall (₹830 – ₹12,990 for Jaquar), and the visible plate is part of the diverter, not a separate "diverter plate" you buy alone.
In detail
What a diverter actually does
A diverter takes one water supply and lets you send it to different outlets — overhead shower, hand shower, bath spout, body jets — one at a time. Turn the handle to position 1 and the overhead runs; position 2 and the hand shower runs.
It is not the same as a mixer. A mixer blends hot and cold. A diverter chooses where the blended water goes. Many products combine both — a "wall mixer with diverter" does the blending and the switching in one body, which is why the naming gets confusing. See our wall mixer guide for that combination.
How many "ways" do you need?
Count your outlets, then add one for the bath spout if you have one.
Most Indian bathrooms need a 2-way or 3-way. If you have a bathtub or a wall spout as well as a shower, go 3-way. Buying more ways than you have outlets is wasted money — an unused position is just a dead stop on the handle.
Jaquar diverter prices by type
Our selling prices, from 409 Jaquar diverters currently in stock.
Note the 2-way median (₹4,080) sits below the 1-way median (₹5,260). That is not an error — the 2-way range includes a lot of high-volume, plainly-finished models, while the 1-way range skews toward designer series. Buy on series and finish, not on way-count alone.
Real Jaquar 3-way diverters at three budgets
The jump to ₹12,990 buys thermostatic control — the valve holds your set temperature even when someone opens a tap elsewhere in the flat. In an Indian building with shared risers, that is a genuine comfort upgrade rather than a specification detail.
Diverter prices across every brand we stock
Jaquar has 409 of the 544 diverters we stock — by far the widest choice of way-counts, series and finishes. Essco is the budget route in chrome; Kohler and Grohe cover the premium and thermostatic end.
The concealed valve nobody budgets for
This is the single most common costly surprise in this category.
A concealed diverter has two parts: the valve body that gets buried in the wall during plumbing, and the trim (handle and plate) fitted afterwards. They are usually sold separately, and the wall has to be opened if you buy the wrong body.
- Jaquar concealed valve bodies: ₹830 – ₹12,990
- Across all brands we stock: 56 models, ₹830 – ₹78,750
Buy the valve body and the trim as a matched pair, before the plumbing is closed. Our guide on which Jaquar concealed valve you need decodes the common codes (ALD-CHR-233N, 441, 87233C).
An exposed diverter mounts on the wall surface and needs no buried valve — cheaper, retrofit-friendly, and the right choice if the bathroom is already tiled. The concealed vs exposed comparison covers the trade-off properly.
"Diverter plate" — what people usually mean
Searches for a "Jaquar diverter plate" almost always mean one of three things:
- The trim plate of a concealed diverter — the visible escutcheon behind the handle. It comes with the diverter trim; it is not normally sold as a bare part.
- A replacement trim for an existing concealed valve. Possible, but it must match the valve body already in your wall. Send us a photo of the handle and plate and we will identify it.
- A flush plate for a concealed cistern — a completely different product, on the WC not the shower. Those are ₹1,310 – ₹9,458; see the flush plate guide.
If your diverter handle is loose or the plate is damaged, the fix is a trim replacement matched to the buried valve, not a new diverter.
What "normal flow" and "high flow" mean
You will see both in Jaquar model names. Normal flow suits standard Indian mains and overhead tank pressure and is what the vast majority of homes should buy. High flow passes more water and is intended for installations with a pump or genuinely strong pressure — on weak pressure it offers no benefit. If you are unsure, normal flow is the safe choice.
What to budget for a complete shower wall
A diverter alone does not make a shower. A realistic 3-outlet setup:
Keep the whole set in one series and one finish. A Kubix Prime diverter next to a Continental spout in a slightly different chrome is visible on the wall.

FAQ
What is the price of a Jaquar 3 way diverter?
Jaquar 3-way diverters run ₹3,390 to ₹12,990, with a median of ₹6,590 across the 100 models we stock. A Florentine 3-way in chrome is ₹3,390; an Opal Prime in gold bright PVD is ₹6,590; and the Aquamax 3-way thermostatic diverter valve is ₹12,990.
What does 1-way, 2-way and 3-way mean on a diverter?
It is the number of outlets the diverter can send water to. A 2-way feeds two outlets - typically an overhead shower and a hand shower or bath spout - and is the commonest Indian setup. A 3-way feeds three. Count the outlets on your wall and buy that number; extra ways you do not use are wasted money.
What is a Jaquar diverter plate?
Usually one of three things: the visible trim plate that comes with a concealed diverter, a replacement trim for an existing buried valve, or - a different product entirely - a flush plate for a concealed WC cistern, which costs ₹1,310 to ₹9,458. A bare diverter plate is not normally sold on its own; a damaged one is replaced as a trim matched to the valve body in your wall.
Do I need a separate valve for a concealed diverter?
Yes. A concealed diverter has a valve body buried in the wall plus the trim fitted afterwards, and they are usually sold separately - Jaquar concealed valve bodies run ₹830 to ₹12,990. Buy the body and trim as a matched pair before the plumbing is closed. An exposed diverter needs no buried valve and is the right choice for an already-tiled bathroom.
What is the difference between normal flow and high flow?
Normal flow suits standard Indian mains and overhead-tank pressure, which covers the large majority of homes. High flow passes more water and is intended for pumped or genuinely high-pressure supply; on ordinary pressure it gives no benefit. When unsure, choose normal flow.
