Jaquar Exposed Parts Kit (EPK) Explained
A Jaquar exposed parts kit is the visible half of a concealed fitting — handle, lever and flange — sold separately from the valve body in the wall. How to tell them apart, what both halves cost, and why it lets you change finish without breaking tile.

Short answer
A Jaquar "exposed parts kit" (EPK) is the visible half of a concealed fitting — the handle, lever and wall flange that sit on your tile. It is sold separately from the brass valve body that goes inside the wall, and you need both. We list 897 exposed parts kits and the 21 valve bodies they sit on. The quickest way to tell them apart: an EPK code almost always contains a K (ALD-CHR-649K, KUP-CHR-35193NKPM), while a body code ends in a C, an N, PM or a plain digit (ALD-CHR-649C). A kit costs ₹620–₹13,816; the body under it costs another ₹1,320–₹12,990. If you have bought one code and your shower does not work, this is why.
In detail
Why Jaquar splits it in two
A concealed fitting is installed in two stages separated by weeks of building work.
The body is a brass valve housing. It goes into the wall chase during plumbing, before plastering and tiling, and it is then buried permanently. It has no finish worth speaking of because nobody will ever see it again.
The exposed parts kit goes on last, after the tiles are laid and grouted. It is the handle, the lever, the escutcheon plate and the trim — everything visible. It carries the series and the finish.
This is not Jaquar being awkward. It is the only sane way to build it: the expensive, finish-critical part stays in its box until the messy work is done, and the plumber can pressure-test the wall before anything decorative goes near it.
How to read the code
Across the 897 exposed parts kits we list, the pattern is consistent:
If the code has a K near the end, you are looking at the visible trim, not the valve. It is not a perfect rule — Jaquar has exceptions — but it is right the overwhelming majority of the time, and it will stop you buying the wrong half.
The other reliable tell is the product name. "Exposed Part Kit of …" is the trim. "Concealed Body of …", "… Valve", "Stop Cock" is the buried half. More on Jaquar's code structure in how to read a Jaquar model code.
A worked example: the 649 thermostatic family
This one family shows the whole system.
Three things fall straight out of that table.
The working thermostatic valve costs ₹792. Everything above that is appearance. The cheapest complete thermostatic shower control is ₹792 + ₹5,852 = ₹6,644; the dearest version of the identical function is ₹792 + ₹10,032 = ₹10,824.
The body never changes. ALD-CHR-649C sits under all eight kits. Chrome, black, gold — same brass in the wall.
Finish is the entire price difference. ₹4,180 between the cheapest and dearest version of one fitting, and all of it is on the visible plate.
The benefit nobody tells you about
Because the finish lives entirely in the removable half, you can change the look of a concealed shower without breaking a single tile.
Chrome handles now, black matt in four years? Unscrew the kit, fit ALD-BLM-649K, done in twenty minutes. The valve stays in the wall. No chasing, no re-grouting, no dust sheets.
This is the strongest argument for specifying concealed fittings in a flat you intend to keep. An exposed system has to be replaced whole. A concealed one is re-skinnable. Weigh that against the retrofit difficulty in concealed vs exposed shower systems.
It also means you can buy a cheap kit now and upgrade later — fit the ₹5,852 chrome kit at handover when money is tight, and swap it for gold when it is not.
Which body does my kit need?
Of the 4,846 Jaquar products we list, 775 declare the body they require, and they converge on just 21 codes — 19 of which are Allied (ALD-).
There is no Kubix Prime body or Queen's body. The series lives in the kit; the body is a plain Allied component underneath. So the body is not a choice you make — it is dictated by the fitting you picked.

Three mistakes to avoid
Buying only the K code. The most common one. You have a handle and no valve.
Buying the body without deciding the kit. Bodies and kits are matched families. Fit ALD-CHR-079N and you have committed to the kits that fit ALD-CHR-079N. Decide the visible fitting first, then order its body — not the other way round.
Ordering the kit before tiling is finished. Buy it, but do not let it near the site. A gold PVD flange stored in a room with cement dust and acidic tile cleaner will be scratched or dulled before it is ever fitted, and that is not a warranty claim.

Why does my new Jaquar concealed fitting not work?
Most often because only the exposed parts kit was bought. Of the 305 products filed under concealed valves, 252 are exposed kits and only 53 are actual valve bodies — so it is easy to buy the visible half and no valve.
