Jaquar vs Cera - Where the Budget Brand Makes Sense

Cera's median fitting is ₹2,520 against Jaquar's ₹4,900. Cera is strongest on accessories and basin valves; Jaquar on range, finishes, concealed systems and its 10-year faucet warranty.

Short answer

Cera is the budget alternative to Jaquar, and it is a genuine one — but the two brands are strongest in different places. Cera's median fitting costs ₹2,520 against Jaquar's ₹4,900, roughly half, and for accessories, overhead showers and basin area valves that saving is real with little practical downside. Where Jaquar clearly pulls ahead: range (2,602 models against 341), finishes (17 against 6), the published 10-year faucet warranty, and depth in the technical categories — 740 mixers and diverters against 16, 31 concealed valves against none. Buy Cera for accessories and second bathrooms; buy Jaquar where the fitting is used daily, where you need a finish other than chrome, or where you need a concealed system.

The mixers and diverters row is the one that decides most bathrooms: 740 Jaquar models against 16 Cera. If you want a specific wall mixer or diverter configuration in a specific finish, Cera very often does not have it.

The overhead shower row looks dramatic but is misleading — Cera's median of ₹1,971 reflects a range concentrated at the simple end, while Jaquar's ₹12,590 includes its large designer heads. At the entry level they are much closer: Cera from ₹801, Jaquar from ₹1,590.

Where Cera makes real sense

Accessories. 95 models at a ₹1,890 median against Jaquar's ₹2,110, from ₹441. A towel rod is a towel rod; the saving across a seven-piece set is worth having and nothing is compromised. See the accessories guide.

Basin area valves. Angle cocks and stop valves from ₹495. These live behind or below the basin and their only job is to open and shut.

Simple overhead showers. From ₹801. For a guest bathroom or a rental, entirely adequate.

Health faucets. ₹936 – ₹2,025 against Jaquar's ₹1,190 – ₹5,730. As covered in the health faucet guide, this is a category where the premium buys finish rather than function.

Second bathrooms and rentals generally, where the fitting needs to work and look clean rather than impress.

Where Jaquar is worth the premium

Anything with a cartridge you use daily. Basin mixers and wall mixers are operated several times a day for years. Jaquar's published 10-year faucet warranty is a real signal of confidence, and its spare-part network means a cartridge replacement in year six is a phone call.

Concealed systems. We stock no Cera concealed valves. If your bathroom uses concealed mixers or diverters, you need the valve body to match the fitting — see which Jaquar concealed valve do I need. This is not a category to improvise in, because the valve is buried in a wall.

Any finish beyond chrome and a couple of golds. Black matt, black chrome, graphite, gold dust, gold bright PVD, gold matt PVD, antique bronze, antique copper, white matt, stainless steel — if your scheme calls for these, Jaquar is where they are.

Series matching across a whole bathroom. Jaquar's series run across categories, so a Kubix Prime basin mixer, spout, shower and accessories all share a design language. Cera's ranges are shallower, which shows when you try to match six fittings.

The split most people should actually use

  • Jaquar: basin mixer, wall mixer or diverter, concealed valves, spout, shower — everything you touch daily or that is buried in a wall.
  • Cera: accessories, angle valves, health faucet, and the whole second or guest bathroom.

This is a genuinely sensible way to take ₹8,000 – ₹15,000 out of a two-bathroom fit-out without living with a compromise.

Cera vs Essco: the other value option

If you are considering Cera on price, also look at Essco — the Jaquar Group's own value brand, ₹450 – ₹6,600 with a median of ₹1,770, which is below Cera's ₹2,520.

Essco is chrome-focused but comes from the Jaquar Group's manufacturing and service ecosystem, which is a meaningful advantage for spares. Cera offers more finish choice at the value end, including french gold and rose gold. Full detail in Jaquar vs Essco.

FAQ

Is Cera as good as Jaquar?

For accessories, basin area valves, health faucets and simple overhead showers, Cera is genuinely competitive and roughly half the median price. Where Jaquar clearly leads is range (2,602 models against 341), finishes (17 against 6), the published 10-year faucet warranty, and depth in technical categories - 740 mixers and diverters against 16, and we stock no Cera concealed valves at all.

Should I buy Cera or Essco for a budget bathroom?

Essco has a lower median (₹1,770 against Cera's ₹2,520) and comes from the Jaquar Group's own manufacturing and service ecosystem, which helps for spares. Cera offers more finish choice at the value end, including french gold and rose gold, and a much wider accessory range from ₹441. For chrome fittings, Essco; for accessories and finish variety, Cera.

Where should I spend more than Cera?

On anything with a cartridge you use daily - basin mixers and wall mixers - and on concealed systems, where the valve body is buried in a wall and must match the fitting. Also on any finish beyond chrome and a couple of golds, since Cera stocks six finishes against Jaquar's seventeen.
